“We’ve been out here in East Africa, just living, breathing, and letting the right people gravitate toward us.”
That line pretty much sums up the freedom and adventure at the heart of this conversation. It’s a real, on-the-ground glimpse an entrepreneur couple—Haseem & Krystel, known together as Blakh Love—who’ve embraced the spirit of “go with the flow” in a big way. They left the U.S. with a plan to teach, create, and simply see what opportunities would arise. And they’ve been amazed by what they’ve found.
Below is a look at how Blakh Love is navigating travel, culture, teaching gigs, multiple income streams, and big dreams without sacrificing authenticity or community impact.
After leaving the U.S. to visit several African nations, Blakh Love found themselves in Tanzania, in a region near the coast. How’d they end up there? Well, it was partly the result of connections they’d made back in Las Vegas within an African diaspora community, and partly just by being open to possibility.
They scored a deal on an apartment—owned by a friend they’d met in Vegas— that lets them stay put for a few months and catch their breath. The location is minutes away from a breathtaking shoreline, with new developments springing up left and right. It’s a win-win: cheap rent, a gated community, and a chance to settle in long enough to focus on their craft.
As Haseem put it, there’s been a definite Alchemist vibe to Blakh Love’s journey(one of my favorite books). They’ve been trusting their instincts, meeting the right people, and following whichever path lights up next. Including opportunities to teach dance at local schools, one of which being a performing arts school in Rwanda (described as “the Juilliard of East Africa”) where they helped shape it’s new dance curriculum. The school is considering bringing them back to teach and establish a full-fledged dance-and-theater program. Currently still up in the air but if it pans out, it’s another step in what feels like destiny calling just by taking that first leap.
“It felt like once we actually went abroad, things literally started happening for us, without us having to try too hard.” - Krystal
Despite the free-flowing, philanthropic vibe, there’s a practical side. Krystal still clocks hours as a wellness coach—conducting online sessions and stretching classes from afar—while Haseem has been day-trading in the options markets.
It’s not always glamorous, especially with the new administration shaking things up but it helps to fund their bigger vision: to dance, teach, and connect across continents. Just another example of creatives using their day job and skills to start funding and building the foundation for the next chapter of their life.
One big a-ha moment we discovered on a recent coaching call was realizing they could license their dance curriculum to different institutions. After putting together a three-year curriculum for a school in Rwanda—one that focuses on turning students into fully fledged dancers and artists—we realized that packaging this expertise might be a huge opportunity to scale their brand. Some other ways they’re exploring to monetize their talents are:
Coaching & Classes: Online or in-person guided movement sessions, stretching, or full dance courses.
Digital Content & YouTube: Free videos to educate, inspire, and draw people into their ecosystem.
Merch & Branding: T-shirts, hoodies, leggings—they’ll be getting in place using a dropshipping platform like Printful
They still want to give back—particularly in African schools and programs—so monetizing the curriculum elsewhere makes sense. It’s a “build it once, get paid repeatedly” concept that frees them up to keep teaching local youth for little or no cost.
Movement Medizen is an off shoot brand they’re building for all things wellness, stretching, and movement. It’s partly inspired by Krystal’s personal health journey—facing surgery and being at risk for paralysis, fighting to maintain mobility—and partly by the belief that movement can heal the mind, body, and spirit.
They’ve been collecting email addresses using “free samples,” like digital PDFs of “movement affirmations,” and they’re working to structure a consistent content calendar so people can do some of their mini-routines at home. Whether it’s a 15-minute warm-up, a hip-opener series, or a guided stretch, the idea is to give people a taste of how movement can transform.
On top of dance and wellness content, Blakh Love has discovered their audience also loves the realness: the ups, the downs, the “how we actually got here” stories. Their restaurant reviews or quick snapshots of daily life abroad have been a big hit with their audience. They want to keep it honest—not just painting a rosy picture, but acknowledging the challenges of living in countries where they are out of their element but figuring it out as they go.
They also hinted at reviving something they started back when they paid a visit to Oakland: Black Facts—short videos tied to important historical or cultural sites, underscoring the significance of each place. It’s fun, it’s entertaining, and it’s educational all at once.
The biggest realization was that it’s all part of one big “gumbo.” Rather than trying to juggle a separate website or social presence for each idea and brand, they’re working on merging everything into an ecosystem that truly represents who they are. From dance and wellness to philanthropy, travel vlogs, and maybe even a little bit of the day-trading hustle. At the end of the day it’s all them, so why keep it separate?
This shift toward consolidation means they can free themselves up to create consistent, purposeful content. Because if the last few months have taught them anything, it’s that being their authentic selves, boldly and without apology, is what really draws people in.
Go With the Flow, But Stay Open: Venture out, meet people, and seize opportunities—even the unexpected ones.
Build Once, Monetize Repeatedly: Whether it’s an online course, dance curriculum, or membership community, set it up so it can thrive without constant hands-on hustle.
Document Your Journey: People connect with realness. Show them the wins and the tough days; it helps foster genuine community.
Share the Free Sauce: Give away previews of your skills. Whether it’s free dance classes or short how-to videos, it lets folks trust you and see your value.
Combine Your Passions: Rather than separate them, let them feed each other. Your brand is all of you, so let your audience see the whole picture.
Final Word:
Blakh Love is living proof that when you let yourself be guided by passion and purpose, the right opportunities often find their way to you. They’re not waiting for perfect conditions; they’re building something out of what they already have. In that spirit, maybe the biggest takeaway from their story is: start now—the rest will unfold in time.
Follow them on social media @BlakhLove @MovementMedizen; if their current trajectory is any sign, there’s plenty more cross-cultural dance sessions, transformative movement programs, and uplifting community work on the horizon. Proud to see them on their journey and looking forward to what comes next.
