Have you ever felt stuck, wondering why your incredible talent and hard work don’t get the recognition they deserve? Trust me, I’ve been there. It’s frustrating, especially when you know you’re doing your best. But here’s a hard truth I had to learn: maybe you just haven’t done enough yet.
I’ve audited over 100 brands in the past year, and a one of the most common issues I noticed is this: many businesses and personal brands haven’t put in enough consistent effort to see the success they’re looking for. Social media sells it like you can blow up over night and every video you post will go viral but that’s very VERY rarely the case.
Most people only see and focus on the viral moment and not the months and often times years and years of up front and behind the scenes work.
But at the end of the day in the digital world—whether you're on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, or YouTube—if you don’t have any content, you pretty much don’t exist. And if you aren’t putting out any content then you’re going to be forgotten about.
I’ve seen brands that have posted less than ten times in the past six months. Some even less than that in the past year. They tried a couple of times, but then the posts started coming fewer and fewer. The enthusiasm disappeared, and with it, their visibility.
In 2024, not having an online presence for your brand is basically setting yourself up to run a harder much more difficult race. If you’ve got somewhere far to go and you want to get there fast the bike or the Tesla?
Think of your favorite influencers or successful businesses you follow online. Do they post sporadically, or are they consistently in your feed, providing value, entertainment, or insights?
For me no better example of that has been LaRussell who consistently shows up day after day with fresh content.
Consistency is key. It keeps you in front of your audience and helps build a relationship over time.
So let’s get real. Why aren’t you posting more? For a lot it’s fear of judgment, a lack of ideas, or not even knowing where to start. I’ve heard all the reasons, and they’re extremely valid. But here’s the thing: you have to be comfortable getting uncomfortable if you want to see growth.
Here’s a straightforward plan to get started:
Plan Ahead: You don’t need a full content calendar to plan your posts. Instead you can dedicate specific days for specific types of content—motivational Mondays, behind-the-scenes Wednesdays, tip Fridays etc. You have to do what works for you.
Batch Content Creation: Spend a day creating content for the week or even the month. This approach saves time and makes sure you always have something to post.
Engage, Don’t Broadcast: Social media is a two-way street. Engage with your audience. Respond to comments, ask questions, and encourage interactions. Build a relationship instead of just posting.
Repurpose Content: Turn a blog post into a series of social media posts, a video into a blog, or a podcast into a quote graphic. Work smarter, not harder.
Measure and Adjust: Track what works and what doesn’t. Use analytics to guide your strategy and improve over time.
When I started in digital marketing and ecommerce I felt like I had amazing products and services but my content wasn’t getting the attention it deserved. But I kept trying, experimenting, and most importantly, stayed consistent. It has been amazing seeing that hard work turn into consistent growth and engagement.
The key to success is to be better today but not as good as you’ll be tomorrow.
Start now. Post that content. Share your story. Let the world see what you have to offer.
