Why Landing Pages (Not Websites) Are the Secret Sauce for Growing Your Brand
If you’re like a lot of business owners out here, you probably feel like the beautifully designed website that you spent lots of time, money, or both building is a complete ghost town. You’ve revised it, redone it, and tried posting it in different places, but it’s just not getting you any results. I’ve been there too.
Let me share a story that might help. A few months ago, I was working with a client who had a really nice website. It had all the bells and whistles—a detailed about section, descriptive product page, even a link to book a call.
Despite all this, nobody was coming to their website and, even worse, they weren’t getting any results. People were barely visiting, and the ones who did visit did not end up booking a call. This client also wasn’t doing any email marketing, so there was no newsletter or email list to sign up for either.
So I told him about something else he could try that would almost certainly give him better results.
Instead of driving traffic to the homepage, we created a targeted landing page for one specific service. This landing page was straightforward—no fancy menus or multiple pages. It had a clear headline that promised a transformation, a description of the service, a few testimonials, and a single call-to-action (CTA) to book a call.
Guess what? The client started getting bookings almost immediately. And since he had a very specific action he wanted them to take it was much easier to create “Top Of Funnel” content that would attract more of their target audience.
This meant the traffic didn’t need to increase dramatically because the quality of the traffic was better so the amount of people that booked a call went way up. That’s the power of a thought out landing page.
Focus and Clarity: Landing pages remove distractions. They focus on one goal, whether it's getting someone to sign up for a newsletter, download an eBook, or book a consultation. This clarity boosts conversion rates.
Targeted Messaging: You can tailor the message on each landing page to match the specific audience you’re targeting. This personalization makes your offer more relevant and compelling.
Data-Driven Optimization: With landing pages, you can easily test different headlines, images, and CTAs to see what works best. This ongoing optimization helps you refine your approach and improve results over time.
Traditional websites are like an army knife—they have a tool for everything. But sometimes, you just need a simple knife to get the job done.
That’s what a landing page is. It’s not meant to be an all-in-one solution but a precision tool designed for specific tasks.
Think about it this way: When was the last time you clicked through every page of a website? Probably never.
Most people are looking for quick answers and clear actions. If they don’t find what they need immediately, they bounce. Landing pages cut through the noise and give visitors exactly what they’re looking for.
Keep It Simple: Don’t overload your landing page with information. Stick to the essentials—headline, benefits, testimonials, and a strong CTA.
Use Social Proof: Include testimonials or case studies to build trust and credibility.
Test and Optimize: Use A/B testing to try different versions of your landing page and see what resonates best with your audience.
Mobile-Friendly Design: Ensure your landing page looks great and functions well on all devices. Mobile traffic is huge, and a poor mobile experience can kill your conversions.
